Familiar Project Planning

Project and account managers are not necessarily the most technically knowledgeable, so it's important that any project management tool conform to expectations where possible. Foresight splits projects into tasks and task groups, with support for milestones. Gannt chart layouts allow projects to be visualised in a recognisable way.

Don't make project definition more complicated than it needs to be

Tasks, task groups and milestones are shown in easy-to-read lists. Progress, start and end dates are instantly visible, amongst other useful information.

Gannt Visualisation

As in most project management tools, Foresight features a Gannt chart that displays the relative start times, durations and relationship between tasks and milestones. The Gannt chart in Foresight is shown as relative from the start date, counting the number of working days. It shows the ideal execution of the project.

Depend on Me

Tasks are rarely completely independent, with most relying on other tasks being complete first. You can define these relationships by drawing connections between the tasks while in the Gannt chart view. Foresight will then use this information to restrict when tasks can be scheduled, and identify when an unfulfilled dependency means that a task may not be able to start on time.

Tasks and Task Groups

In traditional project management, a task can stand by itself or contain subtasks. A lone task behaves differently to one that contains subtasks, so we have chosen to separate them into tasks and task groups. The normal 100% rule still applies

A task is defined as more than just a description and a duration. The skills necessary to accomplish a task can be specified, and Foresight will ensure that only resources with the required skill levels will be assigned.
